Miss Leigh (owner/director/teacher) has been teaching dance to students for 23 years. She is originally from New York where she received extensive dance training from masters of the Luigi and Bob Fosse jazz styles and masters of the Maurice Hines Balletaps. She has attended master classes in Jazz, Tap and Ballet with highly acclaimed NY instructors such as Frank Hatchett, Charles Kelly, Gary Pate and Kathi-Jo Hubner. Leigh has performed in the original musicals “Makin’ It” and “Red Hot Christmas” and was a member of the Dynamic Dance Company and LA Express Dance Company in New York. In addition, Leigh has a BA degree in Education/Special Educationand spent several years as the lead teacher and curriculum specialist for preschool programs in Manatee and Broward Counties. Since opening PURE ENERGY DANCE CENTRE, INC in 1998, she has been dedicated to providing students with a fun, healthy environment that fosters a love of dance and promotes self esteem. When she is not on the dance floor, Ms. Leigh enjoys spending time with her husband Jim and 2 children, Jaime and Logan. Ms. Leigh is excited to start the new season with an exciting staff and new and existing wonderful dancers.
Miss Taryn is currently is in her 2nd season as a Miami Heat Dancer. She also works for C&J Productions, a well-known Miami based production company that performs at several venues including Atlantis in the Bahamas. She graduated from FSU with a degree in Sports Management. While attending FSU she was a dancer and the captain of the FSU Golden Girls dance team. As captain, she led the Golden Girls to three top five performances at UDA College Nationals in Orlando, FL. Miss Taryn has been dancing since the age of three and has extensive competitive and performing experience in all dance styles and has taught at studios in both Miami and Broward County. Taryn is overjoyed to begin her Third year teaching at Pure Energy Dance Centre.
Miss Amy is originally from New Jersey where she earned her BA in Psychology. Miss Amy has been dancing since the age of 3 and spent many years competing. She has extensive training in jazz, ballet, lyrical and musical theater. Miss Amy still attends teacher conferences and workshops through out the country, including New York, New Jersey, and Las Vegas, but nothing makes her happier than watching her students, on stage, performing something she taught them! After many years of dance training and competing she found her true passion is in the classroom, not on stage. Amy has over 10 years experience teaching dance to children including those with special needs. In addition to teaching dance, she is currently a preschool teacher in Palm Beach County. Miss Amy is very excited to start her third year at Pure Energy!
Miss Callie has been dancing for sixteen years. She spent ten of those years as a student at Pure Energy. For five years Miss Callie worked very closely with Ms.Leigh, assisting her with classes. Through this process she has been trained extensively in the process of teaching the programs that Ms. Leigh created especially for the recreational student ages 2-10. She has an excellent understanding of the philosophy that is promoted at the studio. After spending her freshman year at UCF she has decided to transfer to FAU where she will major in Communicative Science and Disorders and minor in Dance. She is excited to begin her 2nd year as instructor, where she can share her passion and love for dance with the Pure Energy students.
